About George Hicks: George and his wife Anne have worked in Brazil between September 1972 and October 2009. George is originally from Maine and Anne is from New Brunswick, Canada. They met at New Brunswick Bible Institute in Canada where they graduated together in 1965. They married in 1966 and served in a pastorate in rural Maine for three and a half years before applying for career missionary service in Brazil. They served in church planting in two churches before and during their first years of ministry with Maranatha Bible College in Northeast Brazil. As the school grew, they narrowed their focus to working only at the school. George was the acting field director of Northeast Brazil for Avant Ministries missionaries. George and Anne have left and turned the ministry in Brazil over to the nationals and, as of Oct 2009, are currently working with Avant in the area of recruitment and mobilization of missionaries in New England and the Maritime Provinces.
